That’s great to hear, but to keep that support it will be crucial to spend any money well, and that especially means helping the poor in exchange for them making an effort, like increased aid for education and training.
Also crucial will be making it so that they can make a better effort with universal healthcare, universal mandatory preschool, good afterschool programs, better foster care programs, etc.
Obviously, a large increase in handouts for able bodied adults to freely spend will decrease this support real fast.
Schoolfare would be a great improvement. It’s far better in most cases than workfare. It’s a far more lasting solution and higher return investment.
